Km Stability

Recommended Posts

I have a 41" 2 pear and It smokes amazingly. But its not very stable. the stem is never tightly in the vase and the vase gets wobbly regardless of what i put it on. recently (yesterday) it tipped and fell and destroyed my couch and carpet by breaking an entire stick of exotica (i had broken it into 3 pieces) and thne it was in 20 big pieces that burned huge holes int he couch (apt is furnished so im screwed).
What can i do to make it more stable?

Sorry to hear about your furniture man.But honestly I have the same problem with a piece of crap SaharaSmoke one.I haven't tried smoking out of it yet but what I would "TRY" to do is perhaps rig some type of strong wire or something around it...I dunno,it's the only thing I can honestly think of.

Well really the only thing to do is cut the burn out as close as you can with a utility knife, then cut the same size spot from inside a closet or hidden spot and super glue it down...OR like you previously states, buy or find carpet and cut and glue it...Or just take the easy way out and throw an area rug over it smile.gif

Hope this help's buddy!

that carpet freakin sucks man sorry.

I'm kindof glad I picked a smaller KM so the center of gravity is lower and I was fortunate enough to get a stable base.

Good luck dude, you should go into the How to Funhouse section and check out the hookah table ideas and do something like that, maybe just find a small endtable on trash night and cut a stemsized hole in the top to stabalize the hookah. Instant stabilization and somewhere to put your tongs, coals, shisha, etc all in one.

Kitchen towels/tissues are the answer to pretty much all sealing issues I have every had! Get a peice of tissue, rip a long strip and wrap it around the grommet on the stem. then put the stem in and it will be pretty tight. You will have to experiement with how much you'll need, try wrapping it around a few times or even folding it to increase the thickness. you can use this same method for making the hose or bowl seal and grip tightly into the stem. For extra security, wrap masking tape around the stem and vase where they meet. Let me know how it works out and if iv confused me ill try to be a bit clearer!

What kind of hose are you using? Are you using one of the KM ones with the long piece that goes into the hose port? If so, you could swap that out for a hose that doesn't stick out as much. Also, if you live by any stores that carry hookahs, bring your rig in there and find a grommet that fits right. The one that came with my KM pear was too big for its own good. The one I found now fits like a glove and you don't have to pop a vein trying to get the stem in and out.

That is Odd m8 as apart from the height causing a tiny wobble my exotica is pretty stable and a REAL tight fit, i can lift the stem without the bowl even thinking of falling out (i dont just incase just can)

as someone said try wet paper towels or just see if you can source a better gromet

it will still be tall and wobble on carpet so you could consider cutting a hole in a circle table and having it kind of like a bracket to stop it TOTALLY toppling over (damn you gnr beating me to this but i already typed it so meh)

all good ideas. unfortunately I have no tools to make a table, no car to go to a store and one roll of paper towels left. but ill give the towels a try. i think it may actually be too big for the vase opening. also its not just the stem
the vase rocks back and forth on my low table

Thats really odd, i just hope that its a one off otherwise it could be like the mya QT vase lower quality now, hookah brand gets big with good quality, everyone buys, hookah brand cuts cost, hookahs come at a normal standard and people still buy sadly

dont suppose you have pictures ?

the KM Wobbly base thing is the main reason why I am looking for a base that will fit my KM. MY KM is 36inches though and not many bases will fit it sad.gif I would like a bohemian base and so far the largest bohemian base I found was 10.5 and pretty sure it wont fit it a KM Base is 12 inches 1.5inches seems like a big deal.

I do it makes it more wobbly I think I have to cut the middle part of the vase protector the because it pushes the vase up off the ground

My KM exotica needs a bit of soap just to fit the stem in the vase! But the grip is so tight i can lift the stem without the base falling off. As for the wobbly base, once again use kitchen towel! get 2 sheets, fold them twice to make a smaller square shape and put it under the base. Or even put it slightly offset, around where the wobble happens. It kinda cushions the base and the surface. Have a go smile.gif

damn people, the bases are not wobbly... if you have a 41" hookah and put it on a carpet surface expecting perfect stability, well, good luck. for next time get a piece of wood, preferably larger than your vase, and put the hookah on that. don't know about the stem issue, the grommet in my km is also a bit tight. try 'lubing it up' with water (haha yes someone's gonna sig that I'm sure) before assembling the hookah. if that doesn't work, sand the grommet down so it fits better.

I would have though it would be more stable on carpet than solid wood! My KM is on hard wood flooring and doesn't rock due to the base protector. My old hookah used to rock and the kitchen towel method or having the hookah on carpet always worked for me!
